Why Self Talk Doesn't Work, And How It Can...

Why Self Talk Doesn't Work, And How It Can
Have you ever wondered why your positive self-talk seems to yield no consistent positive results or change?

Self-talk performed with thinking, analyzing, wondering, worry and expectation has no positive energy within it. And let's face facts, most people read in a book or have someone tell them that if they Think a certain way and repeat certain phrases that they will change their life.

And they are right!

Except they forgot to tell you that You need to believe it when you say it. Not only that, you need to Feel it when you say it. Yes, it's the conviction and belief behind your words that contain the tranforming energy.

Self-talk is a very potent, life transforming therapy when you sincerely apply it with feeling. And then when you get in the feeling you remain there as much as possible. You allow that feeling energy to stay with you--in your doing.

You can repeat, "I want to feel good, I intend to feel good, I want to be pain-free" and get absolutely no benefit from it. However, you can say to yourself, "I intend to feel good, I intend to feel myself walking/running in a healthy, balanced way, I love how free and open my body feels when I exercise, I'm excited by the freedom of moving openly and freely"

Now, if you get into that feeling place where you feel the openness, the free-ness and alive-ness of being in that place--guess what? you are generating and attracting energy that will transform you healing experience.

Words with no emotion/feeling have no power, in fact they lead to doubt and fear lack of faith...Let your thts, your self-talk lead you into a place where you can feel the positive energy (feelings)...It's the feelings that transform you.

The most important question to ask yourself...

The most important question that you can ask your self every day, every moment, is:

What am I feeling right now. What is causing me un-ease right now.

And then spend some quality time experiencing what you are feeling. Not thinking and analyzing what you are feeling,

But really feeling what you are feeling---Good, Bad, Positive, Negative.

It doesn't matter what feeling becasue they are all the same: Energy. Energy that is either open and flowing or Energy

that is closed-off and stuck.

And realize that asking your self these questions is being present and mindful.

Your biography dictates the bio-chemistry of your body

When you Understand that statement, you know how chronic pain is generated and maintained in your body.

When you Accept that statement, you then realize that you are responsible for the thoughts, feelings and repression activities that you are invovled in daily--on a moment to moment basis.

When you take Responsibilty for your thts, feelings and repression activities, you no longer have to go searching for someone or thing to fix you.

You have everything within you right now to begin the transformation out of pain.

Healing from tension induces chronic pain is a...

Healing from tension induced chronic pain is a Present time, mindful activity. It is not a get over my past, fix my future passive process.

Realize that observing/watching your ths/feelings is a present time, mindful action.
Realize that switching your thts out of repression is a present time, mindful action.

Realize that experiencing your emotions---feeeling what you feel is a present time, mindful action.

Don't be fooled by into thinking/feeling that you are not doing anthing when going through this kind of practice.

When you are in present time, mindful and taking action with your thts/feelings in a positive way you are doing and being
everything you can do allow this transformation to begin and continue. So this is a very good thing.

It's when we start to doubt, wonder, and then go searching for something else/new to fix us that we go back into the feeding the pain strategy mode...and then we are right back into this pain disorder with more frustration/confusion/searching.

So just know that being and taking mindful action with your thts/feelings is the way that you reverse this pain disorder. Stay the course.

You are what you think...that's a bunch of B.S.

How many of us have been condioned in our belief system with statements like:

You are what you think. Think and grow rich. As a man thinketh, so is he. Think Big.

If you are challenged with chronic pain caused by inner tension? Thinking is the problem, not the solution.

Why? because most of your thinking is un-conscious drama in the past digging up resentment or anger...or it is in the future
thinking about how this is going to work, what if this happens, or when this happens then all is okay. (worry, expectation, self-consciousness, controlling)

The big problem with all this thinking is that this is how you repress your emotions. You repress your emotions with your conditioned mental patterns of thinking. You think this is normal & natural because everyone does it.

Then we go thinking for ways to fix all this stuff. more thinking, more repressing, more pain.

How do we get out of this mess? Use your thinking to help you become aware of your self? "what am I feeling right now?
and then really feel what you are feeling right now. that is not thinking, that is experiencing what you are feeling.

Use your thinking to switch from low energy (complaining, judging, resenting, searching, controlling) to a higher energy thought. (appreciation, gratitude, contribution,) or switch to something that makes you feel good. Think about something you want that you know when you get that want it will make you feel good.

Why would you want to do that? So that you can be in that feel good place. Use your thoughts to switch from repressing thought patterns which never make you feel good---just try it, when you are complaining, judging, angry, controlling, worrying,...ask yourself how you feel and then take a moment to feel how you feel?

now think about something you appreciate about yourself. think about something you are grateful for, think about something you really want and now image that you have it....how do those thts make you feel? now feel that way. stay in that feeling.

now, quit analyzing this exercise. intellectualism is a repression activity. and realize that you are what you feel. you are what you feel. what you feel is real. let your thinking get you out of repression and into a feeling place....any feeling place and then feel. stop thinking and just experience what you feel.

Why Sarno Does Not Always Work!

There is a reason that 90% of the people I work with have read, listened to, viewed, visited with Dr. John Sarno and his information And are still in pain.

This is not a knock on Sarno's info.

Understand that learning about, becoming aware of the cause of TMS or chronic pain caused by inner stress/tension/anxiety is usually not enough to heal from it. It's not! Yes, the first step is too learn about this chronic pain disorder.

But what if you don't get that sub-conscious effect? Or what if you did get that sub-conscious effect the first time you learned about this disorder but now your pain is back and reading and re-reading Sarno is not working?

Realize that the cause of this disorder (chronic pain) is repressed emotional energy. And it is your conditioned mental patterns of thinking (mental repression activities) that are repressing this energy and generating and maintaining your pain!

So, if you did not get the pain relief from reading about this disorder, it is now time to understand that you Must interupt/switch your mental repression activities...you do this so that you learn how to stop repressing and you then learn how to feel/experience your emotional energy.

A book, therapist, video, ect. will not do this....you have to learn how to do it and then YOU have to do it. Yes, that's the part of this practice that sucks! And it the reason so many are still in pain. Somebody can't do it for you. Now, that's also a good thing, because you can start right now!

I just wish the pain would go away.

Do you ever think that way? Maybe most of the time? This is why you are still in this chronic pain mess!

This type of thinking, wishing, searching is the easist way to Avoid, Deny, and Resist the Real Cause of this disorder.

But, unfortunately we have been conditioned to think this way. However, if you are reading this blog, you know that this type of
communication with your self is How you generate, maintain and continue to Feed this pain strategy.

Mental Repression Activities such as: Worry, Controlling, always trying to please, overly self-conscious, compulsively striving, searching for the fix, expecting the outcome a certain way and in a certain time, having your thoughts back in the past or forward into the future alot are Repressing Agents....You must identify these in your self. And then you must learn how to stop/replace them...

When you do that you stop the mental repression activity and this Gives you the opportunity to Feel/Experience your Emotional Energy instead of repressing it (creating pain).

If you get anything, Get that concept and start practicing it. This is the way out of pain. And for the love of your body stop wishing the pain will go away or that someone is going to fix it. that is not going to happen.

I devote four (4) chapters to: How to Identify your unique mental repression activities, How to stop them, How to replace them, and how to experience/feel your emotional energy instead of repressing it. This is all in the second edition of Get Rid Of The Pain In Your Butt NOW! 7-Steps And 10-Days To A Feel Good Body And Life.

No that is not a plug, well, I guess it is in a way. The point being, I devote over 100 pages on insights, strategies, practices on how to do this, so it's impossible to say everything in this post.

Stop wishing, stop analyzing, stop searching and start investigating/practicing what is going on within you!

How are you communicating to your self?

Have you looked in on how you communicate with your self? This can be a really impt. insight...

When you have a meeting with your self--and ask a question like, "what am I feeling right now"? What hapens?

Do you keep thinking about this? investigating it? Do you come up with a quick one-liner and then move on?

What I am getting at, is when you ask that very impt. question "what am I feeling right now", can you be sincere, open, and trusting with your self?

Or does this or a similiar question lead to "i'm too busy/stressed to think about that right now", "i'm fine, just a little frustration, everything will be okay tomorrow".

Take a look at how you sincerely communicate with your self. Is it open, sincere, trusting and are you taking some "quality time" to investigate how you feel?

If not, then you also now have a very good idea of how you communicate to others---people and situations.

And now, realize that all of this communication, with your self, relationships, and jobs is also Directly communicating with this pain disorder. Yes, it really is, there is no differnce.

When you are closed off to your self. Your system is closed off. Closed off to others. Your stystem is closed off.

Ask your self again, what am i feeling right now. sincerely investigate that. be curious. and then stop thinking about it and start feeling how you feel. use curious questions to go deeper. but remember this is now a feeling thing and not a thinking analyzing thing. If you feel frustrated, sad, excited, buzzed, then feel that. Feel it.

When you are open, trusting, sincere with your self, your system becomes open, trusting, and sincere with you. This is a big part of the transformation of this disorder. Get This!

What are you communicating to your painbody?

What is your pain in the butt? is it your back, low bank acct, crappy relationship, unfulfilling career?

What ever you are focusing on with a big portion of your thoughts/feelings (energy) is what you are attracting and maintaining in this pain situation.

Realized that every moment you are communicating with this disorder (pain situation) that are in your life.

So, if you are searching for a new fix, doc, treatment, therapy--you are communicating to this disorder (avoidance, denying, closed-off-ness). You are
avoiding the Real cause---your emotions/feelings. Make sure you Get This!
Same thing if you are complaining about your career, bank acct or relationship and resenting you are in it and "thinking/searching" that as soon as you fix this prob. then everything will be okay...

Going on a message board and asking what is wrong with me? Do you have this? what do you think about that? Bla Bla Bla is maintaining your painbody. You are communicating to this intellegent disorder you don't want to deal with the real cause your feelings...you still want someone to fix you.

think about that for a minute or sooo...and then start feelng something, anything.

Learn to Feel and then Practice, Practice, Practice...

If thinking too much (worry, complain, judge, controll, resentment, searching-"I can find a way to fix this", ect.) is the problem, the generator of our pain...And it is!

Then we have to start feeling. And for most of us who prefer to go the thinking path becasue that is what seems normal, comfortable and of course will allow us to ultimately find a fix. That's wrong thinking and painful, but that's how and what we think almost all the time. But that's what allows us to Not feel. And that is the big challenge in all of this.

First, learn to experience (feel) what you are feeling---good or bad, positive or negative, high or low--Allow yourself to feel.
Your conditioned tendency is to Avoid the feeling, because usually it is something we don't want and then we go into our
thinking mode of: (worry, complain, judge, control, resentment, searching, ect.)

We do this because that is how we have been taught/conditioned to fix our problems/conditions. At anytime you can choose to start feeling what you are feeling. Instead of going into our repressive thinking modes switch to your feeling mode. It's there. Instead of complaining or worrying begin by asking yourself what am I feeling right now. Why am I feeling this way.
What is going on with me right now. Resist the urge to go into more worry or complaining and feel what feeling is present with you.

It is the feeling experience that opens us up. Frees us. When we can accept our feelings, even the so-called negative ones, it allows us then to switch our thinking, reset our attention onto what we do want.

If you want to change the conditions of your life you have to change your energy. Negative, low, repressed energy attracts and maintains Pain.

Positive, high, open and free energy attracts the same open, freee, feel good conditions that you want. Always remember that thinking in low, repression patterns , which is not feeling attracts pain, or what we don't want.

The way you think is the way you feel....Think in repressing ways--attract repressing feelings---pain!

Think about the outcome you Really want so that you can feel that high, open, free feeling. It's the feelings that attract back to you and that transform your condition.

Thinking starts the process and you control that focus...then come the feelings from that focus...and it's these feelings that
give you what you want or don't want....the good news is that is up to you....where is your focus?
