In Response to David McG...

Entry for January 1, 2007 - In response to David McG...
The pain is a signal to become aware. It also is a distraction in this strategy to keep you focused on the body and away from the real cause you emotional energy.

If oxygen deprivation is the bio-chemical event in our system causing our pain symptoms...And It Is...., it is our nervous systems response to inner tension....inner tension is emotional energy (an emotion or feeling) that is not being experiened... Our internal response to this is a restriction of blood vessels which caused less oxygen to be distributed to muscle and nerve tissue....and this is painful.

Re: change....if you can just read about, know and understand tms and be painfree then that would be great and we would not be having this discussion...people that can learn about tms...And Fully Accept It...Do get a subconscious effect...somtimes this is enough but usually it is not. Most people even though they understand this, still treat it like a "injury" that someone else should be able to fix, or they take a medication and it's gone. This is a Personal mental and emotional disorder that is created uniquely by Each Individual experiencing it. Yes, there are common traits that we have like the type a personalilty, but this is an individual experience and each person must do thier own INNER WORK.

However, I work with so many that did experience this once, maybe 1, 3, or 5 yrs ago and now pain is back...they still understand and accept the tms diagnosis but now they can't get rid of the pain...Why? because they have not learned emotional awareness or how they repress their emotions...so yes they have to change the way they think...if you keep complaining, judging, having angry outburst, worrying about everything, being overly self-conscious, then guess what, you are going to keep emotional energy bottled up in your body and you are going to experience pain.

EVEN though you know this is TMS and EVEN though you understand this disorder; IF you are repressing emotions while you know all this you are still creating and maintaing pain.

Sarno and I say the same thing, I just take it a little further on the emotional side. You will not change your personality, but you can learn to be more present, mindful and aware of when you are complaining, worrying, ect. ect, and you can stop BEING that way and instead be more OPEN.

So you can change your conditoned thought patterns which may be repressing your emotions and are almost always in the past or in the future and are rarely present moment based.

This is why I continue to repeat to people that you already know everything you need to know about tms and the strategy. Get to know your self and how you experience emotional energy....this is not some BIG disorder that has to be beaten....it is an individual mental and emotional way of processing your thts and feeelings....one is open, flowing and pain-free and one is closed, represssing and painful.
